5 Year Doctor's Appointment
A couple of weeks ago, B and B had their 5 year doctor's appointment. Brody weighed 45 1/2 lbs. and was 45 in. tall (79%, 86%). Brynn weighed 52 lbs. and was 46 1/2 in. tall (95%, 98%). I was a little surprised Brynn weighed 7 lbs. more than him. He definitely eats more than her, but he also never sits still either:) Brody passed his vision test, but Brynn's left eye only tested 20/30-20/40. We had been wondering about her vision and if her depth perception was off because sometimes she spills her drinks for no apparent reason. Dr. Gilmer is hoping this corrects itself by age 6, so we will be testing her again next summer before she starts Kindergarten. They both failed their hearing tests, so we will be retesting them again for this also. They took a hearing test with Parents as Teachers last Spring and failed then too. We obviously know they can hear, but are concerned about why they aren't passing. However, every time they have been tested, they have had allergies or colds. Brynn had fluid on her ear at this appointment, so she was started on an antibiotic. I am also not sure if they understand what they are supposed to be doing during the hearing tests either. They each got 4 shots (2 in each leg). Brody went first and he didn't start crying until the last shot and definitely needed some cuddles. I know those shots hurt because he really tensed up his legs while he was getting them. Brynn told me that she didn't want me to hold her while she got her shots. She took those shots all by herself and didn't move or cry. The nurse told her that she never had kids that behaved that well while getting their shots. Brynn is very strong willed and has an incredible pain tolerance. If she doesn't want you to see her emotion, you won't. I was very proud of both of them for being so brave!
