10 Months Old!

The twins turned 10 months old yesterday! It's hard to believe their 1 year birthday is right around the corner. They have not been feeling well since last Friday. They have been having diarhea and runny noses. Fortunately, they have their 10 month appointment with Dr. Gilmer this week. I am going to have her recheck their ears. Every time they mess with their ears, I get paranoid that they have another ear infection. I am also anxious too see how much they weigh and where they are statistically. I am positive Brynn will be in the 90th percentile for height. She has really gotten tall! Brody always seems so much lighter than her, but somehow they always seem to weigh close to the same. Brody would love to start walking, but he gets so excited that he starts jumping and falls down. He is becoming more interested in books and is starting to talk more. He loves to climb up the stairs and have you chase him:) Brynn is becoming more and more ornery everyday! She is constantly into something, usually the dog food, toilets, or in the cabinets. She loves to read books and she is talking nonstop. I love it when she grabs a book and starts jabbering as if she is actually reading it:) She does well taking steps when you hold her hand. We are excited to see who actually walks first! I am really looking forward to that day because it is getting to be quite the challenge carrying them both together up and down the stairs!

Home Sweet Home

We got back from Minnesota on Sunday afternoon. We had a great trip and the twins were really good travelers! We went to the Mall of America on Thursday and B & B loved all the action and scenery. I think Brynn must have waved to a thousand people while we were there:) Too cute! We went to the world's largest indoor water aquarium at the mall. It was really cool to see all the marine life that close. However, I hope that is the closest I will ever get to sharks! We even got to touch some crabs. We stayed in downtown Minneapolis on Thursday and Friday night. Bryan and I went out to some clubs on Thursday night for my birthday. We had a lot of fun meeting new people! However, I got the best birthday present ever from Brody. Grandma Farnan would sing a verse of "Happy Birthday" to me and then Brody would repeat it. It was one of the most precious things I have ever heard and it melted my heart! On Friday, we went to some Cathedrals, shopped, and explored the cities. The Cathedrals we visited were beautiful! On Saturday, we went to Mankato and went to our cousin Terry's wedding. It was really great to get to see everyone and the dinner was fantastic! Unfortunately, the twins were a little fussy, so we didn't get to stay as long as we would have liked at the reception. We had a really good time on vacation, but it went too fast!

It's Vacation Time!

On Wednesday, we leave for Minnesota to go to our cousin Terry's wedding! We are very excited to be getting away for a few days and to go to the Mall of America. We are staying a couple of nights in downtown Minneapolis and Bryan and I are planning on going out to some clubs Thursday night for my birthday. I am very excited to explore Minneapolis, not so excited about turning 31. Yikes! The twins have decided at 9 1/2 months that they aren't babies anymore. I am no longer buying baby food. They want to feed themselves and they want "big boy and big girl" food now. Brody will still eat yogurt from a spoon and some other things, but for the most part he wants to feed himself. He also wants to drink from a cup or from a straw. He's too big for sippy cups! He also loves to drink out of cans. I have to be careful leaving soda on the coffee table or he will take a big gulp of it. His appetite has really increased lately and I am having a hard time keeping him full! I think he eats so much because he never sits still! He is always on the go and is quite the fast stair climber. He is also starting to stand by himself and has taken a few steps. He will walk with you holding onto one hand. Knowing Brody, he will probably skip walking and just start running:) Brynn will not eat anything from a spoon. If she wants it, she will feed herself when she is ready. She also thinks she's too big for sippy cups! She is really starting to expand her vocabulary. She has said momma, daddy, quack, dog, and attempts Ut-oh. She has also started clapping her hands and waving. She really likes to read books too. Unfortunately, her favorite book right now is Dr. Suess's "There's a Wocket in my Pocket!" The book makes absolutey no sense, but she loves it. I think we read it 10 times in a row the other day! They're growing up too fast already:(

New Daycare

The twins started going to a new daycare last week. It is the same in home daycare that cousin Olivia goes to. I was a bit sad last week on their first day, but I know it is good for them to be around other kids and I know they love playing with all the "new" toys. For now, they will only be going one day a week. We think B and B are going through a grow spurt right now. We can't seem to give them enough food! They are getting so big, especially Brynn. She looks so tall! We are anxious for their 10 month appointment the first week of September to see their stats. We hope everyone is staying cool. We are ready for Fall!

9 Months Old!

The twins turned 9 months old on Thursday! Brody continues to be a fast crawler and in to everything! He is pulling up to anything he can, cruising the furniture, and crawling up the stairs. As you can see in the pictures, he loves to get up on the step by our tub. He has tried numerous times to get in the tub, but thankfully hasn't quite figured that out yet. I'm sure he will be walking in the next several months. He got his first tooth last week and has another one coming in soon! He is starting to use his voice more and more. Hopefully we will hear a "Dada or Mommy" soon:) Brynn has made quite the progress over a few days. She went from army crawling to crawling, pulling up to things and cruising, and starting to crawl up the stairs. Her appetite for solid foods has really picked up too. She loves to eat corn on the cob and tomatoes! It is so cute to watch her lick her lips while eating corn on the cob! She has her fifth tooth coming in too! She continues to jabber a lot and sometimes we wonder if she gets tired of talking all the time! We don't know who she gets that from:) It is just crazy for us to think they will be turning 1 in the next few months!

Hopefully, The "Sick Bug" Is Gone...

Well, what a week of visits to the doctor. On Monday afternoon, Brody woke up from his nap with a fever of 104.1, so we headed to Children's Mercy South. He was diagnosed with a left ear infection and croup. Much to my displeasure, the doctor prescribed Amoxicillin for him. I explained that Amoxicillin didn't work for any of us, but she was insistent that that was what he needed. On Wednesday, he was still spiking temps, so I took him to KU. We didn't get to see our PCP, but we saw another attending at the Clinic. She told me that he didn't have an ear infection, just fluid on his ear and that this was viral. At this point, I am very annoyed because I didn't think this was viral and I wanted Augmentin for Brody. On Friday, Brody was still having a lot of congestion and having temps. I emailed their PCP and she called in a script for Augmentin and he is doing much better! He is still having some congestion, but is not having any temps and he is acting like the Brody we know. Brynn just finished the last of her Augmentin this weekend. I take them back next week to have our PCP take a look at their ears to make sure their infections are gone. I feel all of this could have been avoided if the Mercy doctor would have just listened to me in the first place. In the future, we will be going to KU only. As you can tell in the pictures, Brynn is quite proud of her teeth and shows them off all the time. Brody finally has two whoppers coming in on the bottom. I guess we will cancel our investment in the denture stocks:) On a side note, the twins will be getting baptized in September. That should be interesting...we had to take them both out yesterday in church multiple times. Brody was fussy because he doesn't like to be held for very long and he was tired. Brynn decided church would be a good time to start yelling. The louder the church sang, the louder she yelled. I had to laugh at one point because I whispered to her that she needed to whisper and she jabbered something back to me in a whisper like she knew exactly what I meant:) That lasted about a half second. I even had another church member come up to me and tell me she was going to be a good singer someday! Ha!

Farnan Reunion

We have had a busier week than usual. On Wednesday night, Brynn spiked a fever of 103.6 so Mom and I took her to Urgent Care at Mercy South. I had given her some Tylenol before we left and by the time we checked into Urgent Care her temp was up to 104. She was diagnosed with a viral sore throat, viral rash, and a right ear infection (still had an ear infection from before). Poor baby girl had a rough couple of days. Brody has also been fighting a bad cough and congestion/runny nose. I haven't taken him in to the doctor yet, but I am going to make him an appointment if he doesn't get better in a few days. On Saturday, we went to Conception for the Farnan Reunion. It was so nice to get to see everyone! The food was fantastic, especially the meat! Thank you to everyone who helped entertain the twins, especially Claire. Brynn really enjoyed being carried around by Claire. Hopefully, we will be making this an annual tradition!
