Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the Moms who follow our blog, especially Grandma Farnan and Grandma Madden. Thank you for all that you do for us! We went out to dinner last night to celebrate at Texas Roadhouse. Brynn was quite the handful during dinner trying to get to everything on the table:) She is surprisingly becoming very quick at grabbing things she wants:) Thankfully, Brody slept through most of dinner or we would have been in for a real treat! Today when I got home from work, Bryan had a fabulous dinner ready for me with flowers. Thank you, honey! The flowers are beautiful! However, I got the best Mother's Day present from Brynn. She got her first tooth today! Her bottom left tooth barely broke through, but it's there:) Her bottom right will be here soon too! No teeth yet for B-boy. We had a busy weekend. Yesterday, we went to Olivia's 2nd birthday party. As you can tell from the pictures, the twins really enjoyed the cake:) The last picture is of all the Madden grandchildren. Poor Brody is a bit out numbered!

6 Month Doctor's Appointment

The twins had their 6 month doctor's appointment on Tuesday. They BOTH weighed 17lb. 6oz (Brody-50%,Brynn-75%) and BOTH were 26.75 inches tall (Brody-63%,Brynn-90%). We were very surprised that all their measurements were the same, even their head circumferences were the same! We thought for sure Brynn had a pound or so on him! Poor babies got three shots each and another oral Rotavirus vaccine. They both cried when they got their shots, especially Brynn. She had crocodile tears running down her cheeks:( Dr. Gilmer said everything looked good. Brody even tried to crawl for her:) They don't have another appointment until they are 10 months.

6 Months Old Already!

The pictures are from the Parkville Brew Festival we went to yesterday. We had a really great time with Valerie and enjoyed tasting all of the different beers! The twins were good as usual and enjoyed people watching and listening to the band. We have been extremely busy lately. It seems we have something to do all the time! Today, we spent a lot of time outside and planted some bushes and did some landscaping. We are hoping to have our house on the market some time this summer. If you can imagine, we are outgrowing our house:)
The twins are doing good and changing so fast! Brody is still our little goofball and is coming close to crawling. He is rolling all over the place and going to be getting into everything sooner than I would like:) He continues to be on the move in his walker and gets pretty much wherever he wants to. Brynn is starting to be more outgoing. She has once again discovered that she has a voice and is constantly making noise. I don't think she shut up the whole way home from Parkville yesterday:) She loves Truman and gets so excited when he comes near her. She really has no interest in crawling yet. They have their 6 month doctor's appointment on Tuesday and we are very excited to see how much they weigh. Have a great week!

Back From Girls' Trip

We have really been enjoying the warmer weather! We have been going on a lot of walks and spending a lot of time outside. The twins are very fascinated by the lawn mower and they really enjoy watching us mow the yard. Brynn has been sick with horrible diarrhea this week. I think she probably had Rotavirus, eventhough she has had the vaccine. Poor girl had a horrible diaper rash that turned into a fungal infection. However, the diarrhea is gone and her rash is a lot better now. Bryan and I pray that Brody doesn't get what she had.
I went to Columbia yesterday for a girls' weekend. We went to the winery and to some of the restaurants and clubs we used to go to in college. It was a lot of fun, but I missed the twins so much! It was my first night being away from them. Bryan said they were really good while I was gone and everything went great! I was so happy to get home this morning:) We hope everyone has a great week!

Brynn Has Pierced Ears!

Today I took the twins to the mall and I got Brynn's ears pierced! She did really well and only cried for a little while. I think it helped that I gave her some Tylenol before and had a bottle ready for her when it was over. Brody sure had fun flirting with all the people who were watching Brynn get her ears pierced. I am still amazed at all the people that comment on the twins everywhere we go. We also went to Babies R Us and got highchairs. I don't think either of them really knew what to think of them since we had been feeding them in their bouncy seats. I think they will really start liking them a lot! The twins have really started to get mobile. Brody is rolling all over the place and really gets going in his walker. Brynn is not quite as active as Brody. We joke that she is our "fat, happy" baby! Hopefully, she will see Brody on the go and get motivated:) I am real anxious to see how much she weighes because she feels significantly heavier than Brody. The twins are also becoming more and more interested in what we are eating. It sure is funny to see them try new things, especially since they still have no teeth! This weekend we are doing sleep training with Brody. I have tried everything I can think of and he still doesn't sleep through the night. Last night he woke up at 3:45 and cried for a whole hour before he went back to sleep! Poor Brynn got stuck sleeping in the playpen in our room. Hopefully, we have better luck tonight!

Happy Easter!

Our big week is coming to an end...and I survived! I had a really great hospital orientation at Children's Mercy last week. I was very impressed with the hospital and am looking forward to starting work on my unit this week. Yesterday, we went to Maryville for Easter. It was really good to see everyone! Saturday night, the whole Farnan crew (minus Noah and Cale) went out to eat at Pagliai's. There were 14 of us, so it was a bit hectic with all the boys, but a lot of fun! Brody and Brynn actually managed to sleep through some of the chaos:) This morning, we went to church and then had a fabulous breakfast (made by Grandma Farnan). The twins did pretty good in church. Surprisingly, Brody was excellent and Brynn got a little fussy and had to be taken out a few times. All in all, they were really good this whole entire weekend. A HUGE thank you to Grandma Farnan for EVERYTHING and also to Caden for helping with the twins Saturday night. Bryan and I are looking forward to you coming to visit this summer!

Big Week Ahead

Well, we have a very busy week coming up. I start orientation on Monday at Children's Mercy. I accepted a PRN (as needed) position in the Contact Center. Basically, I am triaging telephone calls. I am very excited to get back to pediatric nursing! However, I am not looking forward to a week long orientation there and working my schedule at the hospital too. Bryan thinks it's funny I am stressing over a 5 day work week. I haven't worked a 5 day work week since I became a nurse 6.5 years ago! On Saturday, we are going to a birthday party for Avorey and then up to Maryville for Easter. I am very excited for my family to see the twins. A lot of people haven't seen them since Christmas. A special thank you to the Grandmas for helping us out so much lately. Thank you to Grandma Farnan for staying down an extra day this past week so Bryan and I could go to Mandy's birthday party last night. We had a great time and I thoroughly enjoyed the Madden siblings numerous karaoke perfomances! Thank you to Grandma Madden for watching the twins an extra day next week. We really appreciate you both so much!
